Since joining Simply Gym in Chesterfield my confidence has grown so much that I feel like a brand new person. I lost a lot of weight myself but needed that extra push when I could no longer see the results I desired. With the help of my personal trainer Gav, I have pushed myself further than I ever thought I’d be able to! I even lift weights now and love it.
So far I’ve lost nearly 8 stone, going from a size 22 to at size 12 and with the support of the entire Simply Gym team there really is no stopping me.

From the age of 10 I played netball at a competitive level and so I trained at least 6 times a week until I was 18 and I ate healthily so never really had any cause to worry about my weight or shape. I was always happy being a size 10 weighing around 10 stone. Even throughout university, I maintained my weight for the majority of the 3 years.
It wasn’t until I entered the ‘real world’ and started working that I found out how hard it was to balance my personal life and work life. I gave up netball to concentrate on boosting my career and earning good money. Living on my own and away from family and friends meant that my diet also suffered as I had takeaways most nights. Over the next 3 years my weight crept up to 14 stone (size 16-18) and I had very little confidence to do anything about it. Even though I worked in a gym, I just couldn’t find the motivation to train.
Moving back to my home town last year gave me a kick in the right direction. I joined my old netball club, playing 3 times per week and I immediately started to notice a difference in both my fitness levels and weight. It was a new years resolution that really pushed me to lose my weight though as I knew that just playing netball wasn’t going to cut it. I decided to practice what I preach and actually train in the gym with the help of my personal trainer Rob. I train 2-3 times a week, just doing half hour intense sessions using lots of functional training that keeps me interested each week.
Within the first 3 months I’d lost nearly 20 inches all together and I felt great! Everybody noticed and my confidence was back. I’m still working hard and I’m very much work in progress but I never thought I’d be able to say that I actually enjoy training. I would never give it up now…one more stubborn dress size to go for my ultimate goal!
I’ve dropped 3 dress sizes and just short of 3 stone in 7 months and I feel like the old me again.
