I am Strong Challenge – Meditation and Affirmation – September

In our September blog of I am Strong Challenge, here at Simply Gym, we are looking at meditation and affirmation. Throughout the year we have looked at different ways to into maintaining your strength and growing yourself into the strong person you are. This month, we take a step back and look at the importance of meditation and how this can have positive impacts of your day to day life.

What is Affirmation?

To begin with, affirmation are statements which are positive and help you over come negative thoughts that you may have. Therefore by having these statements which are positive, it will generally lead to a more positive outcomes in life [1].

The following points indicate what positive that can come from taking time out each day to look at the positive thoughts:

Reduces Negative Thoughts

The first positive impact that meditation can have is that it can relax you [2]. It has been indicated that if you meditate for between 10-12 minutes, 4-5 times a week [2]. Moreover, it has been indicated by research that this can bring changes within the brain and improve mental health [2]. Therefore, the more consistent you are with it, the more likely positive aspects will come from mediation.

Enhances Self Awareness

Moreover, by partaking in mediation, you will become more self aware, as you start to understand yourself better [3]. It has been indicated in a study, that by taking part in this sort of process, can reduce the feeling of loneliness [3].

Finally, whilst doing meditation, it tends help relax and calm the body, and also feeling positive[3]. Which will then allow you to feel more calm [3]. Therefore, leaving you feel more at peace [3].
