Importance of Hydration

It is a know fact that our bodies are made up of 60% water (Bupa, 2019). This highlights the important factor keeping hydrated during exercise is. With not keeping yourself hydrated during time of physical activity. This can often lead to issues during exercise, such as feeling tired much quicker than normal, if sufficient amount of water is lost then this can lead to cramp. Therefore causing further issues to your workout (Bupa, 2019).

As we are in these warm and sunnier days, it is important to make sure to keep hydrated before exercise (Bupa, 2019). By doing this, you allowing yourself to reach your optimal performance. Make sure to also not intake this all at once before exercise. This may be detrimental to your performance so therefore take it in steadily (Bupa, 2019).

Here are the best ways to keep hydrated:

  • Keep a bottle with you (reusable cups are very ‘in-fashion’ and are very sustainable and reduce your overall costs)
  • Add juices so its you don’t come to dislike the tastes of water
  • Always have water before, during and after a workout
  • Make sure to drink water before a meal, this can help with reducing weight in a natural and healthy way.
  • Make a schedule to ensure you are continually getting the water you need.
