A Simply Transformation: Renata Chimimba
My name is Renata, I am 37 years old and on the 4th January 2016 I made the decision to start my weight loss journey. At the time I weighed in at 14st 6.5lbs (93 kg)…
I started slowly, targeting diet and nutrition first. 12 days later I decided to join Simply Gym Kettering as I knew that I couldn’t shift the weight with diet alone. It was extremely hard for me to alter my entire lifestyle, but I was determined to show myself and everyone else that I wouldn’t give up as usual; I was going to prove that I could win this fight!
I started going to the gym 5 – 6 times a week. I used the treadmill a lot, as well as the cross-trainer and bike in an attempt to lose the horrible fat! At that time, I was working from 1pm until 9pm, so, after work I came straight to the gym! I started taking photos of myself every 3 – 4 weeks, as well as noting my weight and measurements to keep track of my weight loss. After a few weeks, I realised that I had lost about 3-4 kg and that motivated me a lot!
One of my colleagues is a dietician who helped me with my diet to make sure I was eating healthily. There was a massive difference between what I used to eat and what I found myself eating now. I replaced sweets (I used to eat a lot of them) and fizzy drinks (I used to drink 10 a day) with a lot of protein such as chicken and fish, veggies and fruit. I got used to preparing all of my food daily and I’m still going strong! I have had a few breaks in my weight loss journey, but I’m still a part of Simply Gym and I have a new goal to lose 7 kg more; one step at a time!
Today, I weigh 10st 8.7lbs (69 kg) and hopefully soon I will reach my target of 62 kg! At the beginning of November, I am going to start training with one of the Simply Gym staff so that I can keep feeling the way I’m feeling now; fresh and fit!! And I LOVE it!
I could not have achieved my weight loss goals alone and I would like to take this moment to thank my friend Agnieszka for showing me all of the different types of exercise and to Marcin, my colleague, for helping me with my diet. Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to my hubby. We have a two-year-old son and, this time last year, my husband was looking after the little one all the time. Without his help, I wouldn’t have been able to do such an amazing job and reach where I am now. Thank you!
